Description

A simple pincushion to knit – inspired by an heirloom blanket originally knit in the late 1800s!

The simple design of a white cotton crib counterpane or coverlet in the collection of the Huron County Museum and Historic Gaol in Goderich, Ontario, Canada, served as inspiration to recreate the delicate pattern in the much smaller form of a knitted pincushion.

An easy-to-knit pattern, consisting of simple garter stitch, an eyelet row and then alternating bands of stockinette and reverse stockinette stitch, all knit on the bias beginning at one corner and stitching to the opposite corner.

Knit 8 square units to complete this pincushion or complete even more squares and create a lap blanket or bed coverlet.
